A timeline that keeps up.
Diffcut’s timeline plays every frame on your Mac’s GPU, timed by the audio clock. Trim with the keys you know, shape each clip in the inspector, and export a file that’s checked after it’s written.
Four trims, one key each.
Pick a tool, drag an edge. Snapping catches the playhead, clip edges, marks, markers, keyframes and words.
- RippleLengthen or shorten a clip and everything after it moves to match.
- RollMove a cut between two clips; the total length stays the same.
- SlipChange which part of the source plays, without moving the clip.
- SlideMove a clip between its neighbours, which trim to make room.
An inspector for every clip.
Select a clip and everything about it is in one panel, with the viewer’s transform and crop handles a key away.
- TransformPosition, scale, rotation, anchor, flip, fit and crop.
- BlendOpacity and 17 blend modes.
- FadesPicture and sound fades, with a curve for each.
- SpeedSpeed and presets, reverse, pitch, volume and pan.
- EffectsColor, Curves, Blur, Sharpen and Vignette.
- StillsPhotos and screenshots, in their real colours, including Display P3.
Keyframes and transitions.
Set a keyframe at the playhead with ⌥K and step between them with ⌥; and ⌥'. Drop a transition on any cut, or press ⌥T.
- Five kinds of easingLinear, Ease in, Ease out, Ease in and out, and Hold. Pan and zoom takes a start and an end view, set in the viewer.
- Eight transitionsDissolve, Dip, Wipe, Push, Slide, Zoom, Whip and Blur, each with its own settings, like a dip’s colour or a wipe’s angle.
What you watch is what you export.
Preview and export share one engine, so the frame you approved is the frame in the file. Export with ⌘E.

Questions
Can Diffcut edit ProRes?
Yes. ProRes and other formats Chromium can’t decode play through proxies that Diffcut makes on your Mac, with every frame time kept.
Which formats can I export?
H.264 in MP4 at 1080p or 4K, an HEVC master in MOV at the edit’s size, and a master with 24-bit PCM sound. The frame rate follows your edit.
How is an export checked?
Diffcut hashes every frame and the sound as it writes, then reads the file back: its own demuxer checks the structure and a separate decode must give exactly the same frame and sample counts.
Can I undo anything?
Every edit is one undo step, including each drag. Escape cancels a drag while you’re still making it.
Can I finish the edit in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro?
Not yet. Sending a cut to those apps with every edit intact is planned, and isn’t in Diffcut today.
